A Pittsburgh man is facing fraud charges after allegedly stealing more than $6,000 from a woman in Cranberry Township.
On May 22, the victim reported to police that 35-year-old Willians Pestana, who was paid to clean the victim’s home, had stolen $6,341.
The funds were utilized to pay Amazon, Peoples Gas, Duquesne Light, and Lendbuzz Auto Loans. Banking records show that the accounts utilized to pay these invoices were under Pestana’s name.
The victim believes Pestana committed the fraud by transferring money into his account using check routing and account information.
Pestana was charged with theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy, and possession of an instrument with the purpose to commit a crime.
Pestana is awaiting his preliminary hearing.
