The suspect accused of shooting his coworker during an altercation at an Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Marrero last month has been apprehended in Texas, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Jeffrey Williams, 40, of Marrero, was arrested on July 9 in Grand Prairie, Texas, just outside Dallas, according to Sgt. Brandon Veal, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
According to jail records, he was still in custody on Wednesday.
Williams is accused of shooting a 49-year-old coworker on the night of June 24 at the Outback restaurant on the 1600 block of Barataria Boulevard in Marrero, according to Veal.
According to officials, Williams and the victim had argued. According to officials, the altercation continued outside, where Williams shot the victim once in the chest.
The person was sent to a hospital in critical condition. Authorities expected him to recover.
When Williams returns to Jefferson Parish, he will be charged with attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
