Man taken into custody after allegedly stalking mother of his child

A Leesburg man was taken into custody for stalking after a deputy discovered a tracker on the mother of his daughter’s vehicle.

At 8:20 p.m. Monday, a deputy arrived to the Leesburg Police Department in response to a stalking report filed by the mother of 42-year-old Lloyd Francis Nelson’s infant daughter, according to an arrest record from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The complainant stated that she had been phoning law enforcement for the past several nights about persistent difficulties with Nelson. He had been watching her truck and sent text messages to the deputy indicating that he knew where she was despite her refusal to provide anything. She also stated that there was an active no-victim-contact order against him, which she claimed was the second such order, according to the report.

She had been speaking with Nelson as a result of custody arrangements concerning their infant daughter. Nelson had contacted her around 40 times while she was working that day, and she supplied a voice tape of him saying, “When I get out, you’ll end your life.” She also cited a separate video footage from a monitored parenting app in which he threatened to murder her, according to the article.

The complainant alleged that she had five witnesses who confirmed Nelson had installed a tracking device on her vehicle. According to the report, they informed her that the tracker was a magnetic device under the rear bumper.

A deputy then discovered a white Galaxy Smart Tag tracking device placed magnetically under the bumper. The complainant stated this was the tracker Nelson had been employing to monitor her location. She claimed he texted her daily with her specific location, including another date when he asked why she was at Walmart after she had gotten gas there without notifying him, according to the complaint.

The complainant was still speaking with law enforcement when Nelson contacted her using a monitored app, which a deputy recorded. Nelson inquired about his daughter’s whereabouts and the reason for the complainant’s visit to the LPD. She said she was waiting to meet someone for money, according to the report.

According to the complaint, Nelson inquired as to whether she was bringing their child around another man and indicated that he was aware of her presence. Shortly after this call, he sent SMS messages with threats. One message stated, “I’m going to show you what a…convict is.”

The complainant proceeded to describe another event from July 4. A witness saw Nelson take the license plate from her truck when she was downtown in Tavares at an ice cream establishment. According to the allegation, he also damaged the door handle on her truck, which was registered to the father of her elder child and she was in the process of acquiring the title.

She revealed how Nelson had been haunting and tracking her for months, appearing at every place she went. He allegedly threatened to contact her work and had been contacting others at their home, which she saw as harassment, according to the report.

The complainant then produced a court-ordered parenting plan indicating that she was compelled to trade custody of their daughter. The custody deal was reached roughly two months ago, following the issuance of a no-victim-contact order in response to February and March occurrences. According to the report, Nelson broke the original order, which was modified to allow court processes for the custody agreement, and then violated it again, resulting in a misdemeanor charge and a new order forbidding any contact.

The complainant wanted full custody of their daughter and was frightened about her safety, claiming Nelson would kill her one day. She was present during Nelson’s custody period to supervise visits since she did not trust him alone with their daughter. He was taking drugs and had taken money from her Cash App account. She had video evidence of this on her iPad at home, according to the report.

Nelson was eventually detained at his house on Colonial Street in Leesburg that night. He was charged with aggravated stalking following an injunction (domestic) and violating a pretrial order for domestic violence. He was booked into the Lake County Jail without bond.
