Leesburg man apprehended with meth and drug paraphernalia in The Villages

A Leesburg man driving with a suspended license was apprehended with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in The Villages.

An officer saw 41-year-old Novel Lamar Williams driving a maroon four-door Honda between Bexley and Marsh Bend Trail around 12:10 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He was not wearing a seatbelt, resulting in a traffic stop.

Williams indicated that he did not have his driver’s license and instead handed out a Social Security card. A check with dispatch indicated that his license was suspended indefinitely for supporting delinquency on November 3 and December 1, 2025. On Oct. 20, 2025, he also applied for a Florida ID card, which included notes about a possible child support suspension, according to the report.

The officer then detained Williams and put him in the back of his patrol cruiser. An inventory of the Honda revealed a cigaret box and a sock-like pouch on the floorboard at the base of the driver’s seat. According to the complaint, the box included a clear plastic baggie containing 0.3 grams of methamphetamine, and the sock held a pipe with burned white residue.

Williams was detained on allegations of driving with a suspended license, possession of methamphetamine, and possession or use of drug equipment. He was placed into the Sumter County Detention Center and bond was set at $3,500.
