Police: 2 Apprehended After Vehicle Burglaries And Thefts In Miami Springs

Two suspects were apprehended after a string of vehicle burglaries across Miami Springs that resulted in two vehicles and a gun being stolen, police confirmed Thursday.

According to Miami Springs police, the crime spree began at 1 a.m. Wednesday, when two individuals in hoodies entered the city by a catwalk along North Royal Poinciana Boulevard.

Police said the suspects went via Raven, Plover, Quail, Albatross, Swallow, North Royal Poinciana, and South Royal Poinciana.

They stated more than 15 vehicles were burglarized during the spree, and two vehicles and a gun were stolen.

According to police, detectives eventually located both stolen automobiles in West Hialeah. Although the vehicles were initially vacant, detectives monitored them for more than four hours.

According to investigators, two individuals were eventually observed getting into one of the stolen automobiles.

Miami Springs detectives pursued the vehicle and executed a felony traffic stop, assisted by the Hialeah Police Department’s K-9 Unit and the Florida Highway Patrol’s Criminal Interdiction Unit.

Both suspects were apprehended at around 3 p.m., less than 16 hours after the burglaries began, according to police.

Both stolen automobiles were recovered and returned to their respective owners.

Following discussions with the suspects, Miami Springs detectives went to one of their Hialeah homes, according to the agency.

Police claimed six guns were discovered from the property, including the one stolen during the Miami Springs crime spree.

The remaining five guns were taken during a separate burglary in Hialeah, according to authorities.

Police identified one of the suspects as Christopher Caceres, who is 22 years old. The other suspect appeared to be a youngster, since police pixelated his face in a video released Thursday.

“A reminder to our residents: Make locking your vehicle part of your nightly routine,” the police department stated on social media. “Never leave valuables unattended, and always ensure firearms and other valuable items are properly secured.”

As of Thursday afternoon, Caceres was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. According to online jail records, his bond is “to be set.”
