Massachusetts man indicted for national opioid trade via snacks

A federal grand jury has charged a 23-year-old Massachusetts man for allegedly conducting an internet drug trafficking organization that transported synthetic opioids across the United States by mail, resulting in a deadly overdose in Las Vegas.

A federal grand jury indicted Jaden Zion Andre on one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance analog resulting in death, three counts involving a controlled substance analog, and four counts involving controlled substances, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

According to federal authorities, Andre conducted an online drug business through accounts on Telegram, Proton Mail, and Reddit under the identities “MontanaSnacksLLC” and “SnackSeason.” According to authorities, clients utilized the accounts to request samples, place purchases, and arrange for payment and shipment.

According to investigators, Andre disguised drugs inside popular snack food packaging such as cheese balls, chips, popcorn, rice crisps, and Pirate’s Booty packets before mailing them from Massachusetts post offices to buyers around the country.

According to court filings, one box purportedly addressed by MontanaSnacksLLC was delivered to a lady in Las Vegas in April 2025 after she requested a drugs sample. She was discovered dead later that day, and a material retrieved from her bedroom tested positive for N-pyrrolidino ethylene isotonitazene, a Schedule I controlled drug analog.

Prosecutors contend that the scheme continued until May 2026. Investigators have linked more parcels associated with MontanaSnacksLLC or SnackSeason to overdose deaths in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, though those instances are still being investigated.

Authorities stated numerous other drug shipments were intercepted throughout the investigation, including four packages reportedly delivered on May 26, 2026, with dangerous narcotics hidden within sealed Pirate’s Booty bags. A subsequent search apparently turned up USPS delivery labels, customer and tracking information, cryptocurrency-related records, and photos of suspected synthetic opioids linked to the accused enterprise.

Andre is set to appear in federal court in Boston on August 25. He is currently being imprisoned in state detention for unrelated offenses.

Federal officials noted that the charges are allegations, and Andre is deemed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
