Man apprehended in Harris County child solicitation sting now flagged for ICE

An undercover online operation by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4’s Criminal Investigations Division led to the arrest of a man now flagged for ICE, according to Constable Mark Herman.

The operation targeted adults who wanted to meet children for sexual activity. According to Herman’s office, investigators disguised themselves as children on social media in order to find and apprehend people who were willing to travel to meet children.

According to the constable’s office, on August 18, the defendant, Maximiano Torres, spoke online with a person he mistook for a child but was actually an undercover investigator. Torres then went to an undisclosed place in north Harris County to have sexual relations with the “child,” where investigators were waiting and apprehended him.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted a charge of online solicitation of a child. Torres was booked into the Harris County Jail and placed under an ICE detainer. His bond was set at $80,000 by the 176th District Court.
