A US Army soldier from Fort Bragg was detained in Ohio after police discovered him with a 12-year-old runaway inside a hotel room, authorities said.
According to Montville Police, officers were summoned to a hotel in Montville Township on August 14 to hunt for a missing girl who had purportedly fled Willowick, Ohio.
Investigators discovered that Jayden Fox, 21, of Palatka, Florida, had met the 12-year-old child online. Fox was on a four-day leave from Fort Bragg when he went to the Willowick area to meet and pick up the girl, according to police.
The girl was discovered inside a Fox-rented hotel room after authorities followed her cellphone to the region, according to Montville Police. Investigators have reunited her with her family.
According to police, Fox was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal rape. He remains in Medina County Jail on a $2 million bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
