A man was hospitalized after being randomly struck by gunfire outside a southwest Houston restaurant late Saturday night, according to the Houston Police Department.
The gunshot occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. near Beechnut Street and Corporate Drive. According to investigators, a man and his nephew became intoxicated while inside the restaurant, causing security and the owner to urge them to leave.
Once outside, the man allegedly returned to his vehicle, acquired a pistol, and began shooting toward the business. A man in his 30s, who was outside with a witness, was struck in the chest and leg. Police stated that the victim was not thought to have been targeted.
The victim was brought to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Investigators have identified the culprit, who is thought to be in his fifties, but no arrests have occurred. The investigation is underway.
