Police are searching for answers after a wellness check led to the discovery of a 27-year-old woman dead inside her home.
Police say the victim was killed and suffered facial and neck damage.
According to sources, a 7-year-old child was home and answered the door when police arrived for the wellness check on West 156th Street.
Police have identified the victim as Lovay Williams.
The wellness check was done around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Officers discovered Williams unconscious and unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident has left neighbors feeling uneasy.” “It’s definitely surprising,” one neighbor stated. “This is a lively, safe-feeling block.”
The victim’s death is currently being investigated by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
