A dispute that began at a Jimmy John’s restaurant in St Louis ended with a 14-year-old girl shot in the leg and a restaurant employee facing charges for allegedly opening fire on a vehicle carrying the teen, according to police and court records.
The teenage girl was injured soon before 6 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede avenues and rushed to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to a statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on X.
Court documents identify the alleged shooter as 27-year-old Adam White, who police say worked at the Jimmy John’s where the dispute occurred.
White is accused of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unauthorised use of a weapon, and first-degree child endangerment, among other felony charges.
According to authorities, the shooting was caused by a quarrel between the young girl’s mother and “several individuals” from the Jimmy John’s on Laclede (3800 block). According to preliminary findings, the shooting resulted from an argument between the girl’s mother and many people linked with the Jimmy John’s in the 3800 block of Laclede. “The mother’s connection to the restaurant is still being investigated,” the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
According to authorities, the 14-year-old was later joined in the restaurant by her mother’s boyfriend. The confrontation became heated, and shooting erupted.
According to court filings, White had a verbal argument with a former employee that spilt out into the parking lot.
According to police, the former employee, her boyfriend, and her juvenile daughter then got into a vehicle.
White allegedly fired multiple shots into the vehicle’s rear, wounding a teenage female in the left leg. As they drove away, the defendant fired several rounds into the back of the vehicle. One of the shots injured Victim 3, a kid, in the left leg, according to court filings.
According to investigators, the vehicle’s trunk sustained bullet damage.
White fled the scene, but later returned and was arrested, according to court documents. After being reminded of his Miranda rights, White allegedly admitted to firing at the vehicle and claimed officers he had left the gun at home.
A judge ordered that White be jailed without bond pending trial.
Jimmy John’s and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s inquiries for comment.
