Polk County Woman Arrested After Selling $5,000 In Stolen Storage Unit Items On Facebook

A Frostproof woman faces multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into a storage unit, stealing thousands of dollars in valuables, and attempting to sell the things on Facebook Marketplace.

On September 9, 2026, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested Megan Elizabeth Thacker, age 34.

According to investigators, Thacker broke into a Frostproof storage facility and stole several things worth $5,000. The victim informed law enforcement about the incident after noticing online listings on Facebook Marketplace that matched the stolen items.

Detectives obtained search warrants for Thacker’s apartment and the Facebook Marketplace account. During the search, authorities discovered a large chunk of the victim’s stolen belongings, including a rifle, a handgun, and ammo.

Thacker was booked at the Sheriff’s Processing Center. She is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, dealing in stolen property, burglary of a structure, possession of burglary equipment, grand theft, and unauthorized use of a two-way communication device to commit a crime.
