A man who was fatally shot in the Chatham neighborhood has been identified by officials.
The incident occurred Sunday around 10:38 a.m. in the 500 block of East 76th Street, according to Chicago police.
Police discovered a 54-year-old man on the sidewalk with many gunshot wounds. He was brought to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he later died.
He was recognized as Mark Hurn, 54, by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A witness told police that Hurn was involved in a verbal confrontation before the shooting.
No other information was available.
The CPD is launching a homicide investigation.
