Police: Rockford man arrested after fleeing traffic stop, crack cocaine recovered

Rockford Police Department has identified the man who allegedly barricaded himself in a garage after a standoff early Friday.

Police said they attempted to stop a vehicle near Huffman Boulevard and Yonge Street around 12:20 a.m., but the driver fled.

According to investigators, the vehicle eventually came to a halt in the 2100 block of Vernon Street, and the driver, 32-year-old Jaylen Bullock, fled on foot.

Officers employed a K-9 unit to track Bullock down to a garage in the 1500 block of Carney Avenue. Police reported he exited the garage around 4:00 a.m. During the inquiry, authorities found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Bullock was caught and charged with various offenses, including aggravated fleeing to elude, burglary, and possession of a controlled narcotic.

He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail.
