A man died, and another is recovering in the hospital after being hit by a car while riding a motorcycle on the city’s South Side overnight.
According to police, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Woodlawn.
Officers said the victims, a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were riding a motorcycle northbound in the area when they were hit by a silver SUV attempting to turn left onto 61st Street.
The motorbike driver was critically injured in the incident and later died at the hospital. His passenger was also hospitalized with critical injuries.
The SUV driver, who declined EMS on the scene, was eventually handed citations.
Authorities have yet to identify the victim, and an investigation is underway.
