Akron News, Ohio – A train car loaded with hydrochloric acid tipped off the tracks at an Akron rail yard on the morning of Sept. 5, but officials confirmed there were no leaks, according to the Akron Fire Department.
The Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway reported the incident around 9:45 a.m. at its East Market Street rail yard, the fire department stated in a news release.
Officials found no immediate danger after the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency responded to the scene along with Akron police, fire crews, EnviroServe, and railway representatives, the release noted.
Investigators are still determining the cause and origin of the incident.
The tank car stayed intact, and crews later used four large cranes to return it to the tracks, the release said. No additional details were available as of late Sept. 5.
