A 5-year-old who had been reported missing was discovered dead in Central Florida.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated it was profoundly saddened to learn that the 5-year-old boy with autism who was reported missing had been found dead.

The child’s parents recently called 911 to report that their autistic kid had gone missing from their house on the 7200 block of Grand Elm Drive in Riverview, near Tampa. Deputies arrived minutes later and quickly began searching the neighborhood, accompanied by the HCSO K-9 Unit.

Shortly after arrival, a deputy discovered the toddler in the community’s retention pond.
