A 43-year-old Webster man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested Thursday after deputies allegedly discovered a stash of firearms and ammunition at his home.
Jason Wayne Dionne was detained after a search warrant was executed at a residence on County Road 727.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies searched a secondary bedroom and allegedly discovered 14 rounds of live 9mm ammunition behind a chair under a blanket, as well as a tan Beretta APX handgun loaded with 18 live rounds.
Deputies also investigated a rear shed, where they allegedly discovered a Christensen Arms rifle, a black Daniel Defense AR rifle, and 29 more loose and magazine-loaded rounds of live ammo. Dionne told deputies that he had lived at the house for nearly a year and had access to every part of the property, including the shed.
Dionne is a registered felon with prior convictions dating back to 2001, including battery on detention staff, uttering a forged check, dealing in stolen property, selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, using a two-way device to facilitate a felony, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He is charged with six felony charges of possessing a weapon or ammunition as a convicted Florida felon. He was taken into the Sumter County Detention Center and is being detained on a $60,000 bond.
