Man arrived bloodied at friend’s home seeking help before police discovered dead mother of 4 in bed of his truck

A Michigan man has been charged with murder after law enforcement officers discovered a woman’s lifeless body in the bed of his pickup truck, following his arrival at a friend’s residence seeking assistance.

According to an official press release issued by the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, a 44-year-old suspect has been charged with open murder and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent in connection with the death of 28-year-old Holly Luna. Authorities stated that the suspect’s name was being withheld pending his arraignment, confirming that he remains in custody at the Kent County Jail.

The press release further detailed that deputies responded at approximately 10:52 a.m. on Monday to a call from a woman reporting that the suspect had appeared at her home in Nelson Township, Michigan, “covered in blood” and claiming to have been stabbed. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies rendered medical assistance, and the suspect was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Upon locating the suspect’s pickup truck, deputies discovered Luna in the rear of the vehicle, described as “unresponsive and critically injured.”

Despite efforts by law enforcement to administer lifesaving measures, Luna, a mother of four, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office noted that the Greenville Department of Public Safety had already been searching for Luna and the suspect’s vehicle earlier that morning, following a report made by her family. Kent County Sheriff Bryan Muir, speaking to local NBC affiliate WOOD, confirmed that Luna and the suspect “definitely had a known relationship. They’ve known each other for years.”

Sheriff Muir further noted that the suspect arrived at his friend’s residence appearing “disoriented or confused,” and that the friend contacted 911 after the suspect departed the premises.

Kent County officials indicated to WOOD that they believe the suspect stabbed Luna in Montcalm County before transporting her across county lines in his truck. Authorities subsequently agreed to file charges against the suspect in Montcalm County.

Following his discharge from the hospital, the man was booked into the Kent County Jail and is expected to be arraigned within the coming days.

In the wake of this tragedy, Luna’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her family’s needs and to cover funeral expenses.
