SPANGDAHLEM, Germany – A Southern graduate has been recognized for his work while serving in the United States Air Force.
Senior Airman Ryan A. McCabe received the Super Saber of the week and was recognized for his work in the 52nd Fighter Wing stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
Senior Airman Ryan A. McCabe grew up in Racine, Ohio. He is a member of the Racine Volunteer Fire Department. McCabe graduated from Southern High School in 2018.
Upon graduation from high school, he was ready to begin a new chapter and enlisted in the United States Air Force. McCabe arrived at Spangdahlem Air Base in February 2019 and works in the 52nd Operational Support Squadron’s Aircrew Flight Equipment flight. The AFE flight ensures pilots have the personal equipment they need to deliver combat airpower, maintains survival items, and packs the ejection parachutes used in an emergency.
“McCabe’s dedication to his work directly impacts the success of 52nd Fighter Wing mission and it takes responsible professionals like Ryan to keep generating sorties and maintaining the combat readiness necessary to deter aggressors in Europe,” according to a statement from TSgt Levi Rowse, Public Affairs Specialist.
TSgt Rowse stated, “The Super Saber of the week is a 52 Fighter Wing Commander’s recognition program that highlights Airman who are excelling in the performance of their duties and furthering the wings mission of delivering airpower options to deter and combat aggression. The 52nd Fighter Wing maintains, deploys, and employs F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft in support of NATO and the National Defence directives.”
Additionally, TSgt Rowse told the Meigs Independent Press, “Spangdahlem Air Base and the 52nd Fighter Wing have a rich history. The wing has seen many people and aircraft come and go throughout the years, but one thing remains the same. The 52nd has always been prepared to SEEK, ATTACK, and DESTROY.”
Ryan McCabe is the son of Jerry McCabe, and Erin Heater.
