Rutland Ox Roast returns July 3, 2021

RUTLAND, Ohio – The Rutland Fire department’s annual Ox Roast will be Saturday, July 3, 2021. The event was cancelled last year as many events were with the pandemic, but is in full swing for 2021.

The day kicks off with parade line up at 10 a.m. and the parade starts at 11 a.m. Parade line up order will be large floats, and fire trucks are to line up down at the Meigs Elementary School. Election candidates and royalty are to line up on Brick Street and in the parking lot of the Church. Bicycles, ATVs, four wheelers, and all other small toys will line up in the grass area right at the beginning of Depot Street. Horses will line up in the gravel area down on Depot Street. Meigs Band will be in the large grass area near Depot Street. The parade will go all the way through town, turn into Salem Street, then will turn onto Larkin Street and will loop back around to end at the Rutland Fire Station. At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a flag raising ceremony in the park. This will officially kick off the Fourth of July festivities. 

Other events for the annual Ox Roast include vendors and music. Food booths will be open at 11 a.m. Bingo will start at noon. There will be music throughout the day and conclude with the band Dragons Eye playing from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Fireworks will finish the annual event starting at 11 p.m.
