Story Walk new feature at Racine Library
RACINE, Ohio – There is a new way to enjoy reading a story at the Racine Library with the addition of a Story Walk.
The Meigs County Library Racine Branch hosted its first story walk. A story walk is a way to enjoy reading while walking and talking with your children. A path is marked by displays that hold the pages of a book. The pages can be read at each display. The Story Walk at the Racine Branch nearly circles the building.
The Racine Branch of the Meigs County Library with support of the Middleport Pomeroy Rotary and the Rotary District 6690 work together to fund the project. During an opening ceremony, Tina Reese with Rotary presented John Holman, Village of Racine Administrator, and Jeremy Rose with Rose’s Excavating, with a certificate of appreciation for their help in putting the markers up.
Kristi Eblin Director of the Library said, “We are excited to partner with the Rotary this is something we have been wanting to do for a long time.”
Emily Sanders Children’s Librarian led the children on the first story walk. The reaction from the children was an overall approval of the new feature.
Sanders said regular story time is Mondays at 1 p.m. with the next one being July 19. There will be a break for the month of August. Story time will start back up on September 13, at 1 p.m.
The Story Walk project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont. It has since been replicated across the country.
