The Church Mouse: Hungry?
The Church Mouse: Hungry?
“He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna…that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.” – Deuteronomy 8:3
Are you eating from the bounty of your garden, you know tomatoes, corn, peppers, green bean, and cucumbers? Maybe a friend has shared some of their excess or you stopped at a roadside farm stand to purchase fresh produce. Seems like garden fresh produce is everywhere you look. And that is the way it is supposed to be as after all, it’s summer.
Its amazing how good it tastes fresh from the garden and so different from what you buy in the stores. Now, do not get me wrong, I have ate many a canned tomato and green bean and they tasted great during the winter.
But year I eagerly look forward to when cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, and sweet corn are ready to eat. I could live off of this produce and do for a few weeks in the summertime. Sometimes, I am so ready for tomatoes that I daydream about eating big thick tomato sandwich or chowing down on a big ole slice of juicy, cold, red watermelon. Yummy, yummy makes me hungry just thinking about it.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we hungered after God’s word that way? What if we could hardly wait to sit down and read our Bibles or rush to go to church? What if we day dreamed about going to Bible Study or Sunday School? What if some Sunday morning the Pastor of your church arrived and found a huge group of folks clamoring to get into the church to hear him preach the gospel?
That might cause some Pastors to have cardiac-arrest! But think how much more blessed our lives, families, churches, states and nation would be!
If you do not already attend a church now might be the time go try one out. I am sure that you will be made to feel welcome. You know there is an old saying, “Try it! You might like it!”
Work hard; pray harder!
The church mouse.
Prayer – “Father in heaven, please help us to have a longing to have your words written in our hearts. Fill us with your spirit. Show us your ways. Guide us in your paths. That we might be able show others how to live for you. In the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, amen.
