Jamison Shawn Proffitt, 47, of Portland

Jamison Shawn Proffitt, born March 23, 1974, earned his wings on October 16, 2021. A lifelong Portland, Ohio resident, Jamie graduated from Racine Southern High School where he had many friends, classmates, and teammates as a basketball and football player. Jamie was a Master Mason at Racine lodge 164. He was a member of the Painters union and much more.

Jamie loved his family more than anything, especially his baby girls Jaden and Jillian. He was a hard worker with his hands and could fix any problem. For the last few years Jamie had been driving truck and working on his own rig. He was so proud of that. He enjoyed having fun and laughing, his laugh was contagious. The silly faces he would make will truly be missed.

Jamie flew home to his mother, Pamela Sue Ballard; brother, Christopher Michael Proffitt; and his grandparents, Donna Ward Larkins, Catherine McGraw and James Proffitt.

Those left to cherish him are his father, Terry (Brenda) Proffitt; daughter’s Jaden and Jillian Proffitt; stepfather, Mickey Ballard; maternal grandfather, Howard “Hoppy” Larkins; grandmother, Margie Warner; sister, Brianne (Todd) Perry; stepbrothers, Chase and Logan Ballard; niece, Josie Perry; his paternal uncle, Monty (Alice) Proffitt; paternal aunt, Patricia Proffitt; maternal uncle, Brent Larkins; maternal aunt, Cheryl (Neil Stewart) Baylor; and lifelong friend, Sandy Morris. He also leaves behind many family members and friends that will forever cherish his memory.

May the highest of spirits and the purest of energies accompany him on his journey.

A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. A public visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery in Portland, Ohio.
