The Memphis Police Department has taken into custody a man accused of shooting his friend’s neighbor’s dog.
On August 8, officers responded to a report of a dog being shot on Via Roma Drive near the Rangeline area.
When cops arrived, they discovered that the shooting was the result of an argument between two neighbors.
According to the affidavit, one neighbor, a friend of defendant Gavin Palpallatoc, 31, became irate after her 78-year-old neighbor’s off-leash dog bit her.
The buddy called Palpallatoc and informed her neighbor, “I’m going to have my friend come and put that dog down.”
When Palpallatoc came, he was holding a revolver; according to the affidavit, he pulled the dog from the victim’s lap, brought it into the street, and shot it multiple times.
Following the gunshot, the suspect fled the scene.
Palpallatoc was arrested following a subsequent investigation and is now facing accusations of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, aggravated animal cruelty, and aggravated elder abuse.
