Samuel Thomas Bennett, Sr.

Samuel Thomas Bennett, Sr. of Athens, born March 28, 1941, died September 18, 2024 at the age of 83 after a short battle with lung cancer. 

Sam, known to most as Pap, was a huge supporter of Alexander Spartan Athletics, Ohio State football and the Cincinnati Bengals. Go Joe! His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, and spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired from Abex after 38 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a follower of Christ and showed it daily. 

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bea Davis Bennett and his sister Donna Wilson, all of Athens.

He is survived by his wife, Zelda Bennett of 63 years on Sunday; his children, Terri and Robb Allbaugh of Athens, Samuel and Monika Bennett of Albany; grandchildren, Brittanie and Wes Moquin of Rockbridge, Ryan and Allison Allbaugh of Columbus, Tiffany and Taylor Griebel of Lancaster, Samuel “Trey” and Bianca Bennett of Melbourne Florida; great-grandchildren, Ella, Evie and Eden Griebel, Emersyn and Ripley Moquin, Soon to be Braum Samuel Bennett (Due October 5); and siblings, Mont and Linda Bennett, Beverly Hixson, all of Athens.
