A 15-year-old girl was shot and killed on a city sidewalk Sunday night, marking one of Milwaukee’s most recent homicides in what authorities say has been a brutal year.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, police responded to reports of a shooting at 10:30 p.m. Sunday near North 76th Street and West Silver Spring Drive.
When police came, they discovered the victim, later identified as 15-year-old Azoria R. Jones, with deadly bullet wounds. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said detectives are actively investigating what caused the gunshots.
As of Monday, no suspects were in custody. Authorities have not yet revealed a likely motive.
