Two people were taken into custody last week following a months-long drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and other drugs from a Kershaw residence, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies executed a search warrant at 36-year-old Cory James’ Gold Mine Highway home on Friday, Sept. 26, following two controlled fentanyl purchases.

Inside the home, deputies seized nearly half an ounce of fentanyl, liquid hydrocodone, and digital scales. Another man discovered inside the home was not charged.

Arrest warrants were also issued for Jessica Vogel, 42, in relation with the items discovered. She was arrested at her house on Tuesday, September 30.

Both James and Vogel were denied bond and are facing fentanyl trafficking charges, as well as other drug-related felonies.

Charges include:

  • Cory James (Hunter): Two counts of distribution of fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl (4–14 grams), possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in proximity to a school or park.
  • Jessica Vogel: Possession of fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl (4–14 grams), possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in proximity to a school or park.

“Our objective is to shut down these drug houses, put people in jail who are selling drugs, and make these neighborhoods safe and clean for the people living in them,” Sheriff Barry Faile said in a statement.

The investigation is underway.
