A South Side man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting and critically injuring another man he knew this summer.
Willie Perkins, 35, was apprehended Monday by Chicago police and the United States Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
According to authorities, he is the individual who shot a 32-year-old man on July 16 in the 8700 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Chicago area.
Police said the victim was near the street around 7:21 p.m. when he was approached by a man he recognized, who pulled out a handgun and started firing. The victim was hit several times in the body and drove himself to Trinity Hospital in serious condition.
Police did not provide information on what led up to the incident.
The incident was categorized as domestic, although investigators did not comment on Perkins’ relationship with the victim.
Perkins is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with the discharge of a handgun.
He was supposed to appear for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Wednesday.
