A former Alabama prison officer is facing many charges after authorities claim he attempted to sneak drugs into the state lockup where he worked.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said Friday that Curtis James Green Jr., 24, of Marion, has resigned his post following his arrest on October 4.

Green previously worked as a corrections officer at the state’s Bibb County Correctional Facility.

Prison guards prevented Green from successfully introducing the contraband into the prison. Additional information was not given, although ADOC K-9 handlers and narcotics agents cooperated with the investigation.

Green was in prison with 68 grams of methamphetamine, 7 grams of fentanyl, and a cell phone.

He faces charges of first-degree promoting prison contraband, second-degree promoting prison contraband, trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance felony, and using office for personal advantage.

Green was booked into the Bibb County Jail, and bond was set at $100,000.
