The former executive director of a St. Louis-area organization was convicted Thursday, nearly two years to the day after she was formally charged with stealing millions of dollars intended to feed low-income children.
A St. Louis jury convicted Connie Bobo, 46, of all eight counts on her indictment, including wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and obstruction of an official proceeding.
Bobo served as the executive director of the New Heights Community Resource Center, which fed low-income, school-aged children after school and during the summer.
According to the indictment, Bobo spent $4.3 million on a roughly $1 million residence for herself and relatives, as well as a $2.2 million commercial real estate transaction.
The indictment also accused Bobo of using the money to buy expensive items and giving approximately $1.4 million to her romantic partner.
Bobo’s sentence was planned for January 29.
