Boise, ID — The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Wind Advisory for much of southwest Idaho as a pair of cold fronts sweep across the region, bringing rain, snow, and strong, gusty winds.
Meteorologists report the first front produced widespread rain early Saturday. A second, stronger system is expected later today, delivering scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and peak wind gusts of 45–50 MPH between 2 PM and 8 PM MDT.
Rainfall across the Treasure Valley is projected to reach 0.25 to 1 inch. Higher elevations in the West Central Mountains and the Stanley area could pick up 4–6 inches of snow through Tuesday morning.
The most vigorous winds will target exposed valleys and the Snake River Plain—including Boise, Mountain Home, and Twin Falls—where driving conditions may be challenging for high-profile vehicles. Behind the front, temperatures will fall sharply, ushering in a cooler, fall-like pattern through the weekend.
Drivers should exercise extra caution on mountain passes and stay informed on road conditions by visiting 511.idaho.gov.
