Great Falls, MT — The National Weather Service office in Great Falls has posted a High Wind Warning for sections of northern Montana on Sunday, citing the potential for damaging gusts.
The alert runs from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. MDT and covers Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera counties, including the communities of Cut Bank, Ethridge, and Santa Rita.
Meteorologists anticipate sustained southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph, with peak gusts approaching 65 mph. Such conditions may scatter loose items, cause minor property damage, and trigger isolated power outages. Travel could be hazardous for high-profile vehicles, especially along exposed stretches of U.S. Highway 2 and other north–south roadways.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor belongings—think decorations, trash cans, lightweight patio furniture, and yard equipment—to reduce the risk of damage or injury.
Winds should gradually subside Sunday night as the weather system shifts eastward across Montana.
