Alleged threat leads to arrest
POMEROY, Ohio – An alleged threat of violence has led to an arrest.
Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood reports that on November 25, 2017, the wife of Jacob Stewart, contacted the sheriff’s office and stated that she and her husband were going through a divorce. She alleged that he had been sending her threats via text and Facebook, stating he was going to do bodily harm to her.
The alleged victim, who is now a resident of Ravenswood West Virginia, stated that she had went to the Ravenswood Police Department and filed for a protection order.
Charges were filed in Ohio for Domestic Violence against Jacob Stewart, due to the threatening messages he had allege been sending. Deputies had made multiple attempts to take Jacob Stewart into custody at his residence, but those attempts were unsuccessful.
On Nov. 29, 2017, deputies were able to apprehend Jacob Stewart, 38, at his residence in Portland without incident. Stewart is now being housed in the Meigs County Jail awaiting arraignment through the Meigs County Court. Charges are also pending in Ravenswood, West Virginia against Stewart.
