Leonard (Lennie) Van Meter, 67, of Pomeroy passed away December 31, 2017 after a long illness, with his son, Eric at his side. He was born June 2, 1950 to Leonard (Chick) and Colleen Van Meter.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Lennie loved his son, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the local youth ball leagues. Lennie served as an official for youth football and basketball leagues, but was most at home at the Pomeroy ballfields behind the plate. He was an umpire for many years sharing his knowledge and love of the game.

Lennie is survived by his son Eric (Nachelle Jurgensmier), brother Steve Van Meter, sister and brother-in-law Brenda and John Shuler, and niece and nephew Stacy and Brad. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home’s Middleport location. Services and military honors will immediately follow.
