Morning crash results in fatality

RACINE, Ohio – One person has died as a result of a single vehicle crash on State Route 124.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Elmer B. Parsons, III, 42, of Racine, was traveling northeast on State Route 124 at 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 20, 2021. He was driving a 1996 GMC Sierra when he lost control on the ice covered road going off the left side, striking an embankment. The vehicle overturned ejecting the driver. He was not wearing a safety belt.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours.

In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, also responding were Racine Fire Department, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Meigs County ODOT, Meigs County EMS, Meigs County Coroner, Letart Township, Ridgetop Towing, and Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home.
