Ohio mask mandate not lifted, confusion over updated health orders

POMEROY, Ohio – There has been some confusion circulating on social media concerning the latest round of orders from the Ohio Department of Health Director and Governor Mike DeWine.

Rapidly on social media one page of a two page order has been shared, which on the surface appears that certain orders have been rescinded. New health order was issued which replaces the old ones. A mask mandate remains along with other health orders.

The Meigs County Health Department has received numerous inquiries regarding the new health orders issued, April 5, by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud. The first order, Director’s Order Rescinding Various Orders, rescinded 18 previous issued orders including the mask mandate.

However, a new order was issued to replace many of the rescinded orders, including the mask mandate. The new order titled Director’s Order for Social Distancing, Facial Coverings, and Non-Congregating can be viewed at www. coronavirus.ohio.gov and on the Meigs County Health Department website www.meigs-health.com.
