Nancy Ellen Scarbrough, 70

Nancy Ellen Scarbrough, 70, of Racine, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.  She was born on November 15, 1951, in Pomeroy, Ohio, to the late Henry W. and Dorothy Ellen (Teaford) Bentz, Sr, whom she dearly loved.  She was very proud to be from Racine where she lived the majority of her life.  She graduated from Southern High School in 1969 and also was a substitute teacher there in later years.  She earned her Master’s in Counseling from the University of Dayton and was a licensed social worker.  Nancy was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and served the Lord by singing and playing piano for several years for various local churches; Racine Nazarene Church, Pomeroy Nazarene Church, Grace Gospel Church and shortly for Silver Run Baptist Church.  She enjoyed listening to live bluegrass/gospel music, dancing, and gardening.  She taught her family to persevere and to never lose faith/trust in God and that He will always make a way.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Carla (Stanley Holter) Aeiker of Racine; a granddaughter, Sarah (Roy Brinker) Turner of Pomeroy; a great-grandson, Weston Duke Brinker of Pomeroy; a sister D. Jannine Watkins, Racine; 2 brothers, Timothy Bentz of Columbus, Ohio and Eric Bentz of Racine, Ohio.  She is, also, survived by a nephew Trevor (Michelle) Petrel of Columbus, Ohio, a niece Lori (Anthony Berry) Bentz of North Carolina; a great-niece, Camila Petrel of Columbus, Ohio and 2 great-nephews, Henry Petrel of Columbus and Henry Berry of North Carolina; 2 special cousins April Harmon of Minersville, Ohio and Pam Reber of Youngstown, Ohio; and a finance special friend, Albert Elforth of Racine, Ohio.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry W. and Freda (Taylor) Bentz, Sr. and Glenn E. and S. Edith (Roush) Teaford; ex-husband, Charles R. Aeiker and Leonard G. Scarbrough and a special cousin Scott Gear.

Per her wishes she will be cremated and interred on the family property alongside her father.  A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help offset the expense.
