Junior Fair Board Nets 1,406 Pounds of Food in ‘Stock the Trailer’ Drive
ROCKSPRINGS, Ohio – During fair week this year, the Meigs County Junior Fair Board collected 1,406 pounds of food for distribution in Meigs County.
The Junior Fair Board partnered with David Niese and Amanda Faulk of Farm Credit Mid America and Rural 1st on a recent food drive initiative to “Stock The Trailer”. They awarded each county $500 for participating. To date, their region in Southeast Ohio has collected 9,105 pounds of food to be distributed back to the local communities.
The 1,406 pounds collected by the Junior Fair Board was used to fill many Blessing Boxes in the county as well as donate roughly 1,000 pounds to the Mulberry Community Center Food Pantry.
Montgomery Trailer Sales donated the use of a trailer for the event.
The 4-H Club donating the most was Next Generation with 344.4 pounds of donated food. The group donating the most was awarded a $100 for their efforts.
