Jerry Frederick Powell, 84, of Racine, Ohio, passed away on December 23, 2022, at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born on November 13, 1938, in Meigs County, Ohio, son of the late Morgan and Clara Bird Powell.
Jerry was a member of the Ravenswood Church of God, and Local Steelworkers Union 5668. He served as a deckhand on the Cason J. Callaway that docked on Lake Michigan before he was employed at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He loved to deer hunt and fish. He retired as a level II sonic tester at Pechiney Rolled Products. He was the best cathead biscuit maker around.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marie Powell; son, James F. Powell (Debra K.) of Reedsville, OH; 2 daughters, Juanita Ginther (Jeff) of Racine, OH; Crystal Baker (Tim) of Logan, OH; sister, Kathryn White (Marvin) of Racine, OH; brother, John Morgan Powell (Debbie) of Syracuse, OH; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mike Powell and Larry Powell.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Ravenswood Church of God with Pastor Conrad Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Letart Falls Cemetery in Racine, Ohio.
Friends may visit the family at the church on Thursday, December 29, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
