Angela Marie Pickens

Angela Marie Pickens, 51, of Racine, Ohio left this Earth to be reunited with her family and friends in heaven on February 8, 2023.

Angie was born August 1971 to parents Dennis Lee Richards, Sr. of Evans, West Virginia and Eva Marie Richards of Racine, Ohio. She graduated Southern High School in 1989, and subsequently graduated from Gallipolis Career College.

In 2022, she celebrated 20 years of marriage to her husband, Shelby Jay Pickens. Angie shared many happy memories with her former co-workers both at JD Drilling in Racine and Ohio University Credit Union in Athens.

Angie loved her family, and equally, her friends. Angie had a gift for preserving family memories and fun, and was known, with her husband Jay, to host family and friends for holiday dinners and summer cookouts, as keeping her family close was always her priority. Angie was generous with her heart, and giving with all she had. On her most enjoyable days she could be found in one of dozens of remote antique and Goodwill stores, across several states. She loved to hunt through vintage items and add to her collections. It is not lost on family, that the term ‘goodwill’ also embodied Angie. She never thrifted with only herself in mind, always finding treasures that she thought would bring a friend or a family member joy, and gifting them with her finds.

Angie’s special early morning group texts amongst her siblings and dad will be greatly missed.

Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents, French and Ruby Cunningham and Sylvia Evans, all of Jackson County, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Pickens; a step-brother, J. Cliff Cook; uncles, Don Evans and Bobby Gene Richards; and special friend, Shawna Davis Skeen.
