POMEROY, Ohio – In just one week, the 160th Meigs County Fair will officially open.

The Meigs County Fair is August 14-19, 2023. The theme for this special anniversary year is “Pioneer Days to Modern Ways” chosen by the Junior Fair Board.

The months of planning, hard work and preparation are about to come down to one week. This year, the Meigs County Agricultural Society, which operates the fair, is dealing with additional work due to previous storm damage. They fairgrounds are being prepared and work is being done to repair the Lamb Barn.

Several things will be new this year, including a brand new announcers stand at the Grandstand. The fair board also contracted with a new ride company, Lisko Family Entertainment. A new event will be the Strongest on the Farm Competition. Local favorites are participating in the Rockin’ at the Rock concert as well. The Hill Stage has had new seating and the stage has had a fresh coat of paint. The Grandstand has also recently been repainted. Dino Roar! Tour will be the featured show during the week. It is a program featuring life-like dinosaurs. The entire week wraps up with fireworks on August 19.

Kids Day will again feature giveaways, activities and free admission for kids 12 and under until noon on August 16.

Senior Day is August 17 with senior citizens admitted free until 2 p.m. There will be a special Senior Bingo at 10:30 a.m. in the Shade River Coon Hunter’s Building.

Gates are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Daily admission for the fair is $10 which includes ride stamp. Rides will be open Monday through Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-11 p.m.
