NOAA’s October 24, 2025 outlook points to a mild, mostly dry start to November across Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah, with temperatures running above normal through the first half of the month. That calm pattern may not last. Forecasters say a shift in the upper-level flow could usher in colder Pacific air by mid- to late November, setting the stage for early-season snow in the high country.

Around November 15–22, a trough developing off the West Coast is expected to track inland, potentially delivering light to moderate snowfall to the San Juan Mountains, the high peaks of northern Arizona, and ranges in southern Utah. As Thanksgiving week draws near, even some lower elevations in northern New Mexico could see a few flurries and frosty mornings.

If you’re heading into the mountains, plan for rapidly changing conditions. Early-season systems can strengthen quickly, producing slick passes and reduced visibility. Give yourself extra travel time, check local forecasts and road reports, and be ready with winter gear in case the first taste of the season arrives sooner than expected.
