A 35-year-old woman is in jail after reportedly taking a pickup truck that was left running in the driveway of an Ocala residence.
On Monday, January 26, numerous Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on SW 136th Place in Ocala in connection with a stolen vehicle. According to the police report, the male victim stated that he had been briefly inside his home after starting his Toyota Tacoma and that when he came outside, the pickup vehicle was gone.
An MCSO deputy stated in the report that the incident was captured on video security tape. A woman, later identified as Jasmine Allean Gould, was allegedly seen entering the pickup truck and driving away from the victim’s residence in the vehicle.
Law enforcement officers saw the victim’s pickup truck at the Freedom Public Library parking lot (5870 SW 95th Street). According to the complaint, two cops approached the vehicle and found Gould “laughing and using perfume” inside.
Gould was held and told her Miranda rights. She refused to explain the incident, so she was arrested and brought into Marion County Jail.
During an interior search of the victim’s pickup truck, deputies allegedly discovered many items belonging to Gould. The things included luggage, a pocketbook containing Gould’s passport, and two telephones, according to the report.
The victim arrived at the library, searched his pickup truck, and stated that a key fob, house key, and garage door opener were gone from it.
Gould remains in Marion County Jail without bond. She is charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and petit theft (more than $100 but less than $750).
Gould’s court date has not yet been scheduled, according to jail records.
