A woman was stabbed in a Jackson Township parking lot on Tuesday morning, and police say a suspect is in custody.
A report had come in for an assault, and the caller stated that a woman was bleeding from her face and that the suspect had fled the scene.
Police said the incident occurred in the 5100 block of Dressler Road in Belden Village.
When cops arrived, they discovered the woman victim with injuries to her neck, head, and chest.
Chief Mark Brink of Jackson Township Police brought the woman to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with potentially life-threatening wounds.
Tyrone Anthony Card, 44, has been identified by police as the suspect.
After acquiring information about the culprit, police issued a statewide Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert for Card.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies discovered his vehicle near Route 225 and Tallmadge Road.
He ran from deputies, culminating in a brief pursuit at 105 mph.
Card’s pursuit halted when his vehicle collided with a telephone post, a tree, and a house near 5710 Route 225.
The pursuit did not result in any injuries to spectators, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office identified and apprehended Card after he crashed his vehicle during a pursuit. He was transported to the hospital with injuries.
According to Chief Brink, police are seeking charges for aggravated robbery, attempted murder, and felonious assault.
Authorities believe the man and lady are in a relationship, but they have not yet identified a motive.
