Three men were detained in Tippecanoe County after authorities seized about $700,000 in counterfeit pills and other narcotics during a drug investigation, officials said.
According to authorities, the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force recently ended an investigation into a local drug-dealing enterprise, resulting in the arrests of Adolfo Olivera, 26, of Lafayette; Romeo Sanders, 27, of Marion; and Elias Zamot, 30, of West Lafayette.
Investigators reported seizing almost 39,000 counterfeit tablets with a street value of $688,860. Authorities stated the drugs contained around 7.43 pounds of fentanyl disguised as oxycodone pills and 8.64 pounds of methamphetamine pressed to seem like Adderall tablets.
All three males are charged with various felonies, including selling fentanyl and methamphetamine, conspiracy to deal fentanyl and methamphetamine, possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine, and conspiracy to deal cocaine. Several of the charges are Level 2 felonies, with more Level 3 and Level 5 criminal counts.
The Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation, with support from the US Postal Inspection Service, Tippecanoe County Community Corrections, Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement, and the county prosecutor’s major crimes unit.
As the case progresses, all three suspects remain in custody at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
