A Chicago man has been charged with first-degree murder in the deadly stabbing of a 27-year-old South Side resident last summer, according to authorities, following his arrest this week across state lines in Indiana.
The suspect was identified by police as Juan Osorio, 40. According to FOX 32 Chicago, police believe he repeatedly stabbed the victim on the 900 block of West 78th Street in the Gresham neighborhood in late August, and the guy was declared dead at the scene. Osorio was arrested Monday in South Bend, Indiana, and charged with first-degree murder. The station reported that a detention hearing has been planned for Wednesday.
Arrest at Four Winds Casino
According to Indiana authorities, the case broke open in an unexpected way: Osorio allegedly approached security at Four Winds Casino in South Bend and stated that he wanted to confess. Pokagon tribal police later discovered a rucksack outside the casino with blood-stained garments, according to ABC57.
While in detention, Osorio allegedly damaged property and threatened officers, and St. Joseph County prosecutors have charged him with intimidation and criminal mischief, according to the outlet.
