Man suspected of shooting into crowd outside Gay 90s apprehended by SWAT team

The prime suspect in a shooting outside a popular Minneapolis gay bar has been apprehended following a months-long manhunt.

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Trashaun Ni’J Morris, 25, of St. Paul, is suspected of shooting into a crowd outside Gay 90s in Minneapolis in July.

“No one was injured, but the ensuing chaos sent shockwaves down Hennepin Avenue,” the department said in a social media post.

According to FOX 9, Morris was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison for a fatal shooting outside a party bus in the AMC Theatre parking lot in Inver Grove Heights in 2018. He was freed from jail in 2025.

According to investigators, Morris fled the scene of the most recent Minneapolis shooting and has been on the run ever since.

Ramsey County’s SWAT and Apprehension team located Morris this week “using exceptional investigative skills, electronic surveillance, and good, old-fashioned, determined police work,” according to the department.

Morris was reportedly arrested at his sister’s home on Hyacinth Avenue West in St. Paul earlier this week.

According to online jail records, he was still in detention as of Thursday afternoon on accusations of being a felon in possession of a handgun.
