Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a daycare worker on child abuse charges after she was seen on camera injuring children.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Laura Flores, 31, on three counts of child abuse on Monday after an investigation into occurrences at Bright Beginnings Learning Center on U.S. Highway 441 in Summerfield.
The investigation was launched when the Department of Children and Families (DCF) received an allegation of an injured child earlier this month.
Investigators studied surveillance video from the event and discovered Flores pulling up a child and dumping them into a mat.
Detectives examined further film, which they claim shows Flores injuring two other children. Flores was observed punching one youngster on the back of the head and kicking another, forcing them to fall.
Flores also punched a child in the midsection, slapped him in the face, and stepped on him.
Flores was placed into Marion County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
