Police: Man Attacks Metrolink Security Officer With Railroad Spike

A MetroLink security officer is recovering after being attacked with a railroad spike downtown.

According to a probable cause statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the attack took place on Monday, March 9, along the 300 block of South 18th Street.

According to police, a security officer observed Corey Anderson, 33, strolling on the MetroLink tracks and instructed him to leave the area.

Anderson approached the security officer, brandishing a railroad spike in a threatening manner.

The officer repeatedly ordered Anderson to drop the spike, but authorities said he would not comply. The security officer maced Anderson.

Anderson charged the security officer, hitting him in the head and face numerous times with the railroad spike. The officer was eventually able to subdue Anderson and notify police, who took him into custody.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office accused Anderson of first-degree assault and armed criminal activity. Anderson remains in jail without bond. Online records do not indicate when he will appear in court.
